ACL Most Wanted List

At least 6 of us (actually 7 if we include Katie) bought tickets yesterday for the Austin City Limits Music Festival in September. The lineup hasn't been released yet, but I thought it might be fun to talk about who we'd LOVE to see there. I read somewhere that the ACL headliners are supposedly gonna be MUCH bigger than the Coachella headliners (Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage Against The Machine).

If you aren't one of the 7 that bought tickets yesterday, then get your act together and go here... it's gonna be a blast.

Elliot Yamin... Katherine McPhee... Daughtry... Bucky Covington. Who's with me?!?!?! :)

what a collection of hitmakers from last years american idol!! such a vast pool of talent and creativity.

I feel like Arcade Fire has to be there - even though I don't think they were on the list last year. I really hope they add Belle & Sebastian and hellogoodbye...and of course Voxtrot! Not to mention many more who were already on last year's lineup as well.

on a slightly more serious note:

i would LOVE to see...

- TV on the Radio
- Bloc Party
- The Sounds
- Rooney

all of those guys would be on my "must see" list... as well as everyone you guys mentioned... especially Stars. Their remixed album of "Set Yourself on Fire" has some amazing moments.

I agree with everyone except Rooney...I saw them a few months ago with Ben Lee and didn't think they were all that great. Speaking of Ben Lee, I wouldn't mind seeing him again either!

since I missed The Decemberists when they were on the East side of the country I am really hoping they are there...along with everyone else that has been mentioned (except the american idol people)

I'm going to add The Format to that list (even though I've already seen them) and maybe even Snow Patrol (I know they've been around a while, but I'd still love to see them live). I also whole-heartedly agree with Belle and Sebastian, Stars and Voxtrot. And Justin Guarini.

hahaha... perfect response katie. i read that and almost fell out of my chair. i had totally forgotten about that guy.

although, i'm once again finding myself in the minority, and I have to admit that i don't get what's so great about Belle & Sebastian. maybe it's like RayLa and i just need it to hit me, but so far all of their stuff has just been alright for me. i've yet to hear anything from B&S that's blown me away. THEN AGAIN... i probably heard "Trouble" (trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble...) 7 or 8 times before i finally felt it. anyone have any thoughts on how to cure this malaise towards B&S?!?

hmmm...I really love Belle and Sebastian! Some songs I really like are We are the Sleepyheads, For the Price of a Cup of Tea, I'm a Cuckoo, White Collar Boy, If She Wants me (on mix #4 if I'm not mistaken)...just giving you some options to try and help you come around!

Thanks to the music game, v1, 2, and 3 I have fallen in love with B&S.

Every round there's a song by them that winds up being one of my all-around favorite songs:

Sin's "Blues are still Blue"
Grimes' "White Collar Boy"
mix4's "If She Wants Me"

Michael get with the program!

don't forget tommy's (mix 5 from v2.0) the price of a cup of tea. come on now michael you had to like that one.

and michael, only 7 times on ray la...i would say it took you a good 37 times. i could continue this comment by naming many other artists that you do this with but I am going to leave it at that for now...

Michael, love of B&S (sounds kinky doesn't it?) seems to be gender-specific, as in, not present in the Y chromosome. My tastes certainly don't disprove that theory, although I do like a few songs. Just not enough to buy/download an album. Its a "take it or leave it" band for me, but I don't DISlike them.

I finally joined the party, gang! I'm looking forward to many moments of blog-joy!

wow I did not realize B&S was used so heavily in past mix games. also, it appears that Tommy's usage may disprove the Y chromosome theory...

welcome Philip!

Touche (Mac ad, anyone?)

Oh, Tommy's conniving alright. He wants to win. Felt like he should throw a bone to appease the female voters. He's basically a politician. Well you aren't fooling ME T-Real!

philip you've partially satisfied me (kinda like a $10 hooker... oh crap, i'm not using an anonymous office-related alias).

i love the fact that you're here, present and accounted for... but it pains me to see that you still haven't accepted our invitation to JOIN our blog as an author. There are now 2 emails sitting in your gmail account just waiting for you to join our cult and have your name listed in the contestant's list. hook a brother up.

"...cuz i'm donkey." (that one goes out to you, sinclair)

woo hoo. its official. prepare ye thine eyes and ears for some bombast forthwith.

YAY! I knew week 2 was going to be a good week for Philip! Welcome friend!

I also don't buy the Tommy politician story....He is a legitimate B&S fan! Speak up T-Real....

I threw on "For the Price of a Cup of Tea" on the last mix because it was one of my favorite jams from last year.

I am a B&S fan, but tend to lean to If You're Feeling Sinister moreso than their most recent material. Here's some of my favorite jams of theirs:

"The Fox in the Snow"
"The Stars of Track and Field"
"Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying"
"Judy and the Dream of Horses"
"Judy is a Dick Slap"
"Lazy Line Painter Jane"
"This is Just a Modern Rock Song"
